A Snow Day 4 Us!

On Monday afternoon a Severe Winter Weather Warning was issued for our county. This usually causes much excitement in our area as we just don't get much severe winter weather. The actual forecast included SNOW, which is a really big thing down here. So before the first snowflake even fell from the sky, our county school system cancelled school for Tuesday. Needless to say, my children were ecstatic!
The forecast called for 1"-2" of snow for our coastal area. Of course we didn't finish listening to the forecast because all that mattered was that we would see snow for the first time in 6 years. So on Tuesday morning we woke up to temperatures in the 30's and a light drizzle. Godzilla was really bummed out that he missed the snow. He thought it had snowed and melted before we even woke up. But as the morning went on, the temperature kept dropping. I looked out the window and saw snow.

You do see the snow, right?

YES! It is snow

Oh my, it really is snowing!

By noon we had about an inch of snow on the ground. This was the first time that The Queen had seen snow! We all gathered out in the yard for snow time.

The Queen wanted to build a snowman, go sledding, make snow angels, make snowballs, etc.

It didn't take long for my beach girl to be done with all of this white stuff and want to go inside!

The Princess was having flashbacks to last winter when she was living in rural China during a horrible winter. She too proved to be a true beach girl!

Godzilla was trying to plot a snowball attack against Big Tuna.

Big Tuna was prepared.

"This yard ain't big enough fer the 2 of us."

Ah, missed!

KitKat was twice her normal size as she fluffed herself against the snow. This was her first snow too!

Ok. KitKat waits to go in while Stitch waits to go out.

Now Stitch waits to go in while KitKat just looks on.

Coco was thoroughly enjoying the snow as she was made for this kind of weather!

All in all we got 1"-2" inches of snow in the Big Snow of 2009.
School was cancelled again on Wednesday. By noon most of the snow (except in the shady spots) had melted away. It was in the 50's today. One thing about the weather down here, if you don't like it, just wait about 15 minutes and it will change!

Sorry but I had to laugh when I read about the big snow storm and how classes were cancelled! Here in Canada, it is -20 and the snow is several FEET high and school never closes, even if you can't make it there, lol.
Enjoy the snow while it lasts!
