Last week we celebrated The Queen’s 6th birthday. The Queen has been pretty excited about her birthday as this year she had her very first birthday party. I mean we always celebrate her birthday as a family. But this year she had a party where she could invite friends. She also made many big girl birthday resolutions, though well-intentioned, she has had a hard time keeping (such as NOT sucking her thumb). She has been counting down the days with a birthday countdown calendar.
Anyway, the day started with her breakfast of choice…crackers! The Queen is a cracker snob. She loves crackers and will eat them over candy any day of the week. She loves yellow crackers (white cheddar Chees-its), orange crackers (regular Chees-its), oval crackers (Townhouse), rectangle crackers (Club), circle crackers with little hole (Ritz), and little crackers (oyster crackers).
Our schooling today centered on The Queen’s birthday. We started with her Birthverse:
Corinthians 9:8 NIV
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
She worked a special math worksheet where all of the answers came to the number 6! She practiced her writing and spelling with “I am six years old.” We learned to write the Chinese character for the number 6. We played a “China Find It” game. We read her toddler lifebook. It was a special day of schooling!
Soon after it would be time for her guests to arrive. There was still party preparations and decorating to do. The Queen had been dreaming of a Disney Fairies themed party. So we started with tutus and fairy wings.
Each girl received a tutu, wings, and wand to get into the spirit.
Of course Tinkerbelle oversaw the whole event.
You know it is hard to take a photo of fairies! The little pixies were flying and flitting all over the place and it was hard to get them to stay still long enough for a photo (not to mention them all wearing their outfits at the same time:)
The birthday girl!
Make a wish!
The Queen received many nice gifts.
Also much help in opening the presents.
The Princess was having her own little pity party:)
It’s hard to believe my little girl is six years old.
My dear precious daughter, you are a child of God, His treasured possession. He created you in His own image. He chose the day for you to be born. He has a plan and a purpose for your life.
